'a volume; a tome' // 2023

unfired, wheel thrown, burnished red earthenware, smooth black vulcan stoneware, smooth buff stoneware, audrey blackman porcelain, multi-clay reclaimed body

the product of a three month long real-time memorialisation of suspended moments. Captured in a carefully chosen selection of clay bodies, thrown vessels which have been tended to over hours and hours to refine and compress the surface through burnishing, resulting in unexpected forms and finishes.

the work is unfired. It's temporal fragility echoing the making concept; shrines to passing time, that cannot be made permanent.

akin to something sacred, their careful placement upon the hand cast concrete alter grounds them in a pause; a breath; a moment of reverence
