Somerset Art Works

Artist Development and Membership Manager | September 2024 - Ongoing

  • Planning and management of Arts Council-funded artist development program to public audiences, including the delivery of annual symposiums and development days, bursaries, commissions, collaborative projects and exhibition curation.

  • Delivering year round 1:1 mentoring and CPD support for emerging artists and makers.

  • Management of 500+ member artist network with strong focus on diversifying engagement initiatives and signposting to offer robust support for a broad range of creative career stages, demographics and locations.

  • Year round research, evaluation and analysis of engagement and impact.

  • Building and maintaining a wide range of partnerships with museums, galleries, funding bodies, craft guilds, heritage organisations, and national arts institutions.

  • Producing research-informed written outputs for public dissemination, funding applications, project evaluations, reports and public copy.

  • Overseeing organisation databases, CRM lead, and archival management for structured documentation.

  • Since 2022 developed an artist-led, open access, creative digital programme, expanding reach to underserved audiences and embedding wellbeing-focused creative provision from a temporary post-Covid response into a core strand of delivery.

  • Assisted in the delivery of county-wide biennial Open Studios and Arts Festival events, including research, planning and artist support.

Workshop Facilitator (Freelance) | 2022 - Ongoing

  • Creating and delivering bespoke creative workshops for in person and online delivery. Most recently working with the Bath Spa University Business School MBA programme, previously with Somerset ReAcquainted. 

Creative Mentoring and CPD Sessions (Freelance) | 2025

  • Collaborating with organisations and initiatives to offer creative problem solving/ mentoring sessions to participants. Most recently this has been as a Creative Mentor as part of BSU’s public knowledge and facility sharing ‘Arts Membership Scheme’.

Studio Technician - Clayshed, Bristol | 2022

  • Assisted with the day to day running and maintenance of a busy community ceramics studio, ensuring high standards of health and safety.

  • Supported studio users with practical processes and contributed to the smooth operation of shared ceramic facilities alongside the studio team.

Branding and Creative Development Consultant (Freelance) | 2014 - 2022

  • Collaborated with a diverse range of artists and small creative businesses to develop clear branding, communication strategies and a sustainable online presence.

  • Delivered client-specific services including digital content creation, visual branding, web design, and social media strategy to expand audience engagement.

  • Supported clients with archiving, cataloguing, photography and integrating video into accessible online formats.

Membership and Engagement Services, National Trust, Somerset | 2017- 2021

  • Oversaw retail and membership services across two heritage sites, implementing effective visual merchandising and creative engagement strategies to achieve audience driven targets.

  • Supported the care and interpretation of historically significant collections, and archives, through a developing programme of creative activities that connected intergenerational audiences with properties, artefacts, and landscapes. 

Gallery Associate - Courts Garden Gallery | 2014  

  • Fixed term role to establish and manage the gallery’s online and social media presence, alongside working with the Director to facilitate sales and day to day management of the gallery.
